BLD- Los Angeles

We made great time to LA and were all ready to go for breakfast.  Our first stop, BLD.  We arrived to French Press Coffee.  This was no Starbucks!  Bold, rich, and smooth.  Definitely a gift from heaven after such a long morning.

We ordered Eggs Bennedict- Ode to Butterfield.  This consisted of flat iron steak and a cabernet hollandaise on a homemade English Muffin.  What was so surprising was the hollandaise was delect- the wine did not overpower the sauce and gave it a lovely pink tinge.  The steak was cooked perfectly.  The poached eggs were done a little too hard and did not ooze properly.  While the English Muffin was homemade, it was very difficult to cut through with your knife.  It was a nice alternative to the classic Eggs Bennedict.  They paired the eggs with yukon gold potatoes and chorizo hash.  Definitely a stick to your ribs meal.

The star of the meal, however, were the Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes.  THESE WERE AMAZING!  Probably the best pancakes I have ever had.  The texture was light, airy, almost melted in your mouth.  While that was delicious, it was the flavor that sent you over the edge.  Everytihng about the flavor was very subtle but worked well with one another, like a beautiful symphony playing on your tongue.

The was a great start to our adventure!
